Bangkok Restaurant Review: Uno Mas

My coworkers and I were looking to have a celebratory dinner and they are fellow appreciators of good food and good wine. I had heard a lot of good things about this new Spanish tapas rooftop restaurant so suggested Uno Mas to my colleagues. Since we work in The Offices at CentralWorld the convenience of hopping next door to CentaraGrand could not be beat.

We took the elevator to the top and walked in to a magnificent entrance. The host stand is a counter in front of their wine vault which is a two story, glass enclosure lit with blue light where the bottles almost appear to float. While this is visually stunning enough on its own, what makes it extra cool is that the sommeliers use a belay harness to get to the bottles. It’s all very Mission Impossible and my boss was already delighted. Things were off to a great start.

We sat at our table and ordered our wine to sip as we enjoyed the absolutely stunning view of Bangkok.

Then we ordered an array of tapas from the standard fare – meats & cheeses, pan con tomate, croquettes, etc. Everything was the absolute best quality ingredients, obviously imported by a passionate chef/staff. Surprisingly, the dish that we went absolutely gaga for was a simple spinach dish. I still have no idea what made it SO good, but we immediately ordered two more servings after we quickly devoured the first plate.

Not surprisingly, you will pay quite the pretty penny to enjoy top-quality, imported foods in such a beautifully designed space with such a stunning view. It was perfect for a business outing which will get expensed, but it would definitely be too pricey for me if I was paying on my own. So you may want to keep your eyes peeled for discounts to be able to enjoy this lovely restaurant. But if money is not an issue, don’t hesitate!
