What I Ate in… Stamford, Connecticut, USA

This little nomad came all the way Home for the Holidays. And while home for me is New York, one of my best friends and travel buddies lives in Connecticut, so I spent some time visiting with him and some of our old favorite food haunts as well as trying a few new ones!

Stamford, CT has so many amazing restaurants that it’s hard to know where to start. But here are some of my friend’s go-tos:

  1. Colony Grill (Pizza)
  2. Coromandel (Indian)
  3. Casa Villa (Mexican)
  4. Lakeside Diner (American)
  5. Post Corner Pizza (Uhhh..Pizza)
  6. Layla’s Falafel (Mediterranean)

As if that isn’t enough Connecticut eats, there are many more amazing food destination towns nearby (see What I Ate In…Fairfield County, Connecticut). Also, sometimes I visit the north of the state (see What I Ate In…Hartford, Connecticut).

Colony Grill

Colony Grill in Stamford, CT
Colony Grill has four locations in Connecticut (Stamford, Milford, New Canaan, & Fairfield) where they sling their super thin crust pizza. Start with the salad pizza and do yourself a favor and get at least half a pie with stingers (peppers) & hot oil.

Coromandel

Coromandel in Stamford, CT
For an amazing, slightly higher end Indian Restaurant that’s great for a nice dinner out and of course an awesome lunchtime buffet head over to Coromandel. The lunchtime buffet comes with some Tikka Chicken served in a skillet. They also do a mean weekend brunch buffet.

Casa Villa

Casa Villa in Stamford, CT
Casa Villa actually has 2 locations in Stamford & 1 in Bridgeport that serves Mexican food that gets two thumbs way up not only from this semi-Texan, but of a bona-fide native of San Anton.

Lakeside Diner

Lakeside Diner in Stamford, CT
Lakeside is a lovely diner overlooking the lake, I’ve never actually eaten here, but I have stopped in for their classic diner coffee and famous traditional donuts.

Post Corner Pizza

Delicious thicker crust pizza in bit of a more casual, diner-like setting. And yes, that’s basically a pound of mozzarella on top of the salad. Just in case you try to fool yourself into thinking you’ll have “something light”.

Layla’s Falafel

Layla’s Falafal in Stamford, Connecticut
For your mediterranean fix, look no further than Layla’s Falafel. While they have 2 locations in Stamford, I have been to neither, because we had UberEats bring it to us, hence this nice rustic table vibe.
