For most people, having a Vegan friend might pose a bit of a dining challenge when trying to find places to meet for dinner (especially in Bangkok. But not for me. I was delighted to have someone to join me in knocking through my bookmarked list of vegetarian/vegan/raw/healthy restaurants. High on this list was Bonita Social Club. The second we walked in we were instantly smitten. The place is warm and cozy and filled with antiques (many of them from America). It’s like being at Grandma’s house in all the best ways.
This restaurant is an extension of Neung’s loving and wholesome spirit. An expression of her love and openness and her desire to share a healthy lifestyle with others. Her passion for running and all-natural food is completely infused in this place.
We ordered ourselves a couple of soda waters with some rose syrup and couldn’t stop squeeing over the high level of lovely lady-ness we were enjoying with the soft pink floral tablecloths and hobnailed antique glasses. I was so much in my element that I cried a little out of pure happiness (not even joking).
For my main, I went with the Raw Zucchini Pasta with tomato sauce and cashew cream. So fresh, tasty, and wholesome! I wouldn’t recommend for someone who is wary or new to raw/vegan dishes – there are many other dishes on the menu that would be better for dipping your toes in the water. But if you love plant-based dishes this is a real treat.
My lovely lady friend went with the vegan pizza which was served with a side salad, some garlic potatoes, and even had vegan sausage! Another real treat for anyone observing a vegan diet.
For dessert we shared the Chocolate Mousse which is served in two balls – perfect for sharing when you just want a few bites of sweetness to end your meal.
