About

“Marie! The baguettes! Hurry up!”

If you grew up in peak Disney animation years, you may recognize this as a lyric from “Belle”, the opening number to Beauty & The Beast. Here, does this help?

My hero Belle: not content to live in what looks to be a completely majestic countryside in France. No judgement girl, some people just have that travel bug.

I originally hail from Long Island, NY and identified with Belle like whoa. She was the first brown haired Disney Princess and I too walked around reading books (although my headgear and glasses meant that I wasn’t constantly dodging the advances of any expectorating jocks). I’d always dreamed of traveling the world and discovering new places, but never thought such grand adventures would be in my reach.

Like Belle, I did leave my small hometown in NY, but instead of being held hostage in an enchanted castle, I moved to a strange foreign land called “Texas”. Luckily for me though, it was Austin, so it was pretty cool. I’ve also gotten to live in Boulder, New York City, and Bangkok – where I started this blog to chronicle my explorations of Bangkok’s restaurants, bars & cafes as well as my adventures traveling in Asia.

Then I took a year off to travel and wound up settling in a small provincial town in France. OK, ok, so Nice is not exactly a small provincial town, but it makes for a better story. Now I’ll use this blog to chronicle the adventures in the European chapter of my story!

“I want adventure in the great, wide somewhere.

I want it more than I can tell.”

Preach, Belle.
